Baked Brie with caramelized onions: warm, creamy & extra cheesy. Serve with bread or crackers of choice, this easy baked Brie recipe will be your new Holiday favorite!
Caramelize the onion. Preheat the oven to 350F (180C). Add the butter to a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted completely, add onions, and saute until translucent (about 4-5 minutes). Season with salt and pepper. Add half of the wine and stir until it evaporates completely then add the brown sugar and saute until darker in color. Add then remaining wine and stir until wine evaporates again. Turn off the heat.
Bake the Brie. Unwrap the Brie and slice off the top rind of the cheese (optional). Place Brie (rind side down) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top with caramelized onions and bake for 10-15 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve immediately, this appetizer is very time-sensitive as the Brie will harden up as it cools down. Store any leftovers in an air-tight container in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven or microwave until melty again.
