1 cup(200 g)coleslaw*(*see notes down below for a quick coleslaw recipe or use your favorite or store-bought)
1mediumwhite onion(minced)
4dogs
4buns
1 cup(140 g)papas fosforinas (shoestring fries)
Ketchup(for topping)
Mustard(for topping)
Mayonnaise(for topping)
Instructions
Prepare the pineapple sauce following my Colombian Pineapple Sauce. I recommend cutting the recipe in half to minimize leftovers. Or skip this step and use store-bought pineapple jam.
Make the coleslaw following the recipe in the notes of the recipe card down below or use your favorite coleslaw recipe or store-bought coleslaw.
Make the pink sauce. Simply add the mayonnaise and ketchup to a small bowl and mix until smooth.
Cook the dogs. Fill a large pot or skillet with water, place over high heat and bring to a rolling boil. Add the dogs to the boiling water and cook for about 5-6 minutes or until done (check the package of the dogs you're using for the recommended cooking time).
Slice the buns.
Assemble. Add the minced onions to each bun, followed by a layer of coleslaw, then add the dogs, and top with papas fosforinas (fries), pineapple sauce, ketchup, pink sauce, mustard, and mayo. Serve!
Notes
*Quick Coleslaw Recipe: add 2 cups (180 g) shredded cabbage and 1 grated carrot to a medium bowl. Add 1/4 cup (60 g) mayonnaise, 1/2 tablespoon vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, salt, and pepper to taste and mix until combined and creamy.Make Ahead Instructions: make the pineapple sauce, coleslaw, and pink sauce ahead of time (up to 1 day ahead of time). Assemble when ready to serve.Storing Instructions: hot dogs don't keep very well, especially Colombian-style hot dogs because of all the toppings so I recommend planning ahead and making the right amount of hot dogs to begin with and if you do have leftovers, you can store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to a day, keeping in mind that the fries will soften up, the bread may dry up, and the sauces will mix together.📷 DID YOU MAKE THIS RECIPE?!
