This Pineapple Danish recipe features Homemade Pineapple Sauce, cream cheese, and a zesty lime icing! These pineapple danishes are so easy to make but so good, they’re the perfect summer treat or breakfast idea!
Pineapple Danish
I have this quick, easy, and delicious Pineapple Danish recipe for you guys today!
These danishes are made with puff pastry, cream cheese, and homemade pineapple sauce. They’re topped with a simple powdered sugar and lime icing that’s fun and zesty which goes so well with the sweetness of pineapple!
The pineapple sauce is my Colombian Pineapple Sauce and it’s truly the star of the show here so I really recommend you use that but you could technically also use pineapple jam if you’re in a rush.
Still, I recommend using pineapple sauce because it’s packed with flavor, warm, and sweet and it’s what make these danishes special (and if you have leftovers you can always use them to make some Colombian Hot Dogs or just drizzle it over pork, grilled chicken, yogurt, ice cream, pretty much anywhere)!
Let’s see how they’re made!
Ingredients
- Pineapple sauce. You’ll need one batch of my Colombian Pineapple Sauce for this recipe. It’s made with fresh pineapple, sugar, cinnamon, and vinegar. It’s really easy to make and versatile. You can use it on meats, to make some Colombian Hot Dogs, or enjoy it as a regular jam. You can technically substitute this with pineapple jam but I recommend you give my pineapple sauce a try because it’s so packed with flavor that it will take your danishes to your next level. Store-bought pineapple jam is good but as not AS good.
- Puff pastry. You can use frozen, refrigerated, or homemade puff pastry. Depending on how large your puff pastry is, you might get more or less danishes. I get 6 with frozen puff pastry and 8 using the refrigerated kind which is much thinner but comes in bigger portions.
- Cream cheese for the sweet cream cheese layer.
- Powdered sugar. You’ll need enough for the cream cheese layer and icing.
- Vanilla extract for the cream cheese.
- Limes. I recommend fresh limes for best flavor but you can also use regular lemons if that’s what you have on hand. I prefer limes because I find the flavor to be a bit more interesting than lemons.
How to make pineapple danishes
- Thaw the puff pastry if using frozen. Skip this step if using refrigerated or homemade puff pastry as it may become too soft to be handled. Meanwhile, preheat the oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the cream cheese. Combine it with powdered sugar and vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
- Assemble the danishes. Using a knife, cut your puff pastry into 6 or 8 rectangles (or any shape you like). You can also use cookie cutters to make different shapes. Carefully transfer each danish to your prepared baking sheet, then use a knife to score each danish with a 1/4-inch border. Poke the inner rectangle of each danish with a fork a few times to keep it from puffing up in the oven (do not poke the border). Scoop a dollop of cream cheese over each danish and use a knife or the back of a spoon to smooth it out, making sure it doesn’t sit on the border. Top with a layer of pineapple sauce or jam.
- Bake until golden. Remove from the baking sheet and allow to cool down just a bit. Meanwhile, make the icing.
- Make the lime icing. Combine the powdered sugar and lime juice until smooth. The icing should be quite thick but still pourable. You can use a piping bag or a spoon to top your danishes with the icing. I used a piping bag for a more refined look but you don’t have to. You want to pour the icing once the danishes are still warm but not hot, if they’re still hot it will immediately melt into your danishes. Enjoy warm!
Can I make these ahead of time?
I wouldn’t recommend it because puff pastry danishes are best eaten as they’re made: when they’re still warm and crispy. But you can prepare the pineapple sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
How can I store danishes?
Danishes are best eaten as they’re made but if you have to store them, I recommend storing them in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can warm them up in the oven if desired. Do not freeze.
HAPPY BAKING!! I hope you’ll love this Pineapple Danish Recipe as much as I do!

Pineapple Danish
Ingredients
For The Pineapple Danishes
- 1/2 batch Colombian Pineapple Sauce (here's the recipe, or use store-bought pineapple jam)
- 1 package puff pastry (frozen, refrigerated, or homemade)
- 5 oz (140 g) cream cheese
- 1/4 cup (30 g) powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
For The Lime Icing
- 1/4 cup (30 g) powdered sugar
- 1-2 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
Instructions
- Thaw the puff pastry if using frozen. Skip this step if using refrigerated or homemade puff pastry as it may become too soft to be handled. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400F (200C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the cream cheese. In a medium bowl, add the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
Scoop a dollop of cream cheese over each danish and use a knife or the back of a spoon to even it out, making sure it doesn't sit on the border. Top with a layer of your prepared pineapple sauce or jam.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Remove the danishes from the baking sheet and allow to cool down just a bit. Meanwhile, make the icing.
- Make the lime icing. In a small bowl or glass, add the powdered sugar and lime juice and mix until smooth. The icing should be quite thick but still pourable. You can use a piping bag or a spoon to top your danishes with your prepared icing. You want to pour the icing once the danishes are still warm but not hot, if they're still hot it will immediately melt into your danishes. Top with lime icing and enjoy!
