Charcuterie Board for Two (Small Charcuterie Board)
I love a good date night with a silky leopard robe, a glass of wine and the perfect romantic Charcuterie Board for Two.
That’s the vibe I was going for with this board so I wanted lots of juicy dark fruit that gave drama and the perfect blend of salty cured meats and rich cheeses with some fun accompaniments.
This Small Charcuterie Board is:
- Balanced: smoky, salty, sweet, spicy.
- Perfect as a stand alone dinner or as an appetizer.
- Perfect texture mix: creamy, crunchy, juicy, silky, smooth.
- Quick and easy to style.
- Customizable.

Ingredients
Cheese
For a small charcuterie board, I like doing 2 cheeses: one creamy and mild and another with a more fun flavor. For this one, I did Camembert and pepper Gouda for a smoky fun kick.
Camembert (or Brie) is creamy and buttery and goes beautifully with the cured meats, fruit, and hot honey and melts into the warm baguette. It truly is the perfect cheese. Pepper Gouda also goes beautifully with the fruit and is a classic cheese with a playful twist that won’t overpower the other ingredients.
More inspo: aged Cheddar, sharp white Cheddar, Havarti, Gruyere, Provolone, Fontina. You can also do a Burrata (served on a little plate so it doesn’t soak the other foods).
Cured meats
I always go for prosciutto and salami for charcuterie boards because they’re just the perfect classic cured meats. Another great option is Speck, if you love smoked cured meats.
I like folding the prosciutto into loose twists, kinda of like when you make puff pastry twist: it’s quick and easy and makes the prosciutto look airy and fun, keep the fat layer on top so it adds visual interest. For salami I just fold each slice in half!

Bread and Crackers
I like doing warm French baguette and a fun cracker so you have a more filling, classier vehicle for all your toppings and a lighter crunchy option!
For crackers I like keeping them simple so either plain crackers so the other ingredients can shine or herby/seeded ones. You could also do buttery crackers but I like the fancier vibe of a lighter cracker.
Fruit
I really went in with fruit with this charcuterie board because I wanted it to be the one ingredient that gave it that dark, sultry, dramatic vibe so I did cherries, blackberries and red grapes. You can also do just one fruit.
For a lighter, chiller vibe you can do green grapes, dried apricots, pears, raspberries or even strawberries. Most charcuterie boards do one of these but they always feel very daytime/chill and I wanted this one to give sultry date night instead!

Accompaniements
For accompaniements I always do some plain green olives to add a sharp briny reset button and I like the unpitted ones because they look fancier. You can also do flavored, stuffed or spicy olives.
To make this board romantic, I added dark chocolate shards as a fun accent. I went for 70% Cacao chocolate. You want at least 60% Cocoa so it has that sharp bitterness that will add that grounding quality.
I wouldn’t do 80% Cocoa or more because that’s too overpowering, you still want to enjoy it melting in your mouth as a dessert. I love Lindt for chocolate but you can also do a fancier artisanal or niche brand.
Nuts can also be a good accompaniments but I didn’t use them for this charcuterie board because they often give happy hour bar, not sultry date in.
Spreads
I don’t always add a spread but for this charcuterie board I did hot honey which is just so good with the Camembert, fruit, and cured meats. It adds a fun spicy kick and the luscious smoothness and sweetness of honey is just perfect for a romantic charcuterie board for two.
Other good spreads are pepper jelly (like this Sweet Pepper Jelly), fig jam, Dijon mustard (a tiny ramekin is enough), olive tapenade (if you’re not doing whole olives), or even a raspberry jam (delicious with Camembert and Brie and prosciutto if you’re not adding berries as fruit).

How much food for a charcuterie board for two
I like turning this board into a light romantic stand alone dinner with some good wine so I add about 8 oz (250 g) of cheese in total and 8 oz (250 g) of cured meats in total.
If you want it to be a light appetizer, you can do 4-6 oz (115-170 g) of each and you won’t have leftovers.
For the other ingredients, you can totally measure by heart but the recipe card down below has all the exact measurements!
What wine goes well with charcuterie
It depends on the ingredients you add but let’s say you make my exact Charcuterie Board: get a bottle of Pinot Noir!
The red berry notes echo the blackberries and cherries while the earthy undertone goes perfectly with the Camembert (or Brie) and it’s perfect with dark chocolate shards.
If you go with green grapes, nuts, raspberries, dried apricots, you can also do a Sauvignon Blanc or Brut Champagne and you’ll have a light sparkly date night vibe.

Charcuterie Board For Two (Small Charcuterie Board)
Ingredients
- 4 oz (115 g) Camembert (or Brie)
- 4 oz (115 g) pepper Gouda (or aged Cheddar, sharp white Cheddar, Gruyere, Fontina, Provolone, Havarti)
- 4 oz (115 g) prosciutto
- 4 oz (115 g) salami (or Speck)
- 1 baguette (warm)
- 3.54 oz (100 g) crackers (plain, seeded, herbed, flavored)
- 1 cup (5.5 oz or 155 g) dark cherries (the ones I added were very large)
- 1 cup (5.5 oz or 155 g) red grapes
- 1/4 cup (1.5 oz or 35 g) blackberries
- 1 oz (30 g) dark chocolate shards (at least 60% Cocoa, I used 70% Cocoa, I don't recommend higher because it can be too overpowering)
- 1/4 cup (85 g) hot honey
- 4 oz (113 g) green olives (I used unpitted, you can also do flavored, spicy or stuffed olives)
Instructions
- Place the cheese first. Start off by adding the Camembert in one spot and the cubed pepper Gouda in the opposite spot so it looks balanced. Add the spread in a ramekin of your choice since it's the bulkiest item after the cheese.
- Style the cured meats. For the prosciutto, loosely twist each slice like you would a puff-pastry twist keeping the fat layer on top for visual fun and place it around the Camembert. Fold each salami slice in half then place below the pepper gouda.
- Add the other ingredients placing together foods that go well together like olives + salami or Camembert + berries. Keep the cured meats visually separate so they don't blend together. Place dark chocolate shards next to mild foods like bread, cheese or the ramekin. If your charcuterie board can't fit all the crackers and bread, add more to a separate plate or board. Make sure there's no empty gaps so the board looks full. You can also decorate with herbs or flowers, if you'd like.
