Creamy Ham and Peas Pasta
I bring you another one of my busy weeknight meals that everyone loves: Ham And Peas Pasta. This is cozy, nostalgic, and delicious yet so simple to make.
It’s a 20-minute one-pot meal and I know some people scoff at one-pot meals but the Italian in my DNA tells you not to because one-pot simply means quick and less dishes 🙂.
The flavor and texture will still be perfect with this method, provided you get the pasta al dente!
This Ham and Peas Pasta Is:
- Creamy and comforting.
- Packed with flavor: sauteed onions, garlic, ham, peas, and a cream sauce with Parmesan!
- Ready in 25 minutes.
- One-pot.
- Loved by kids and adults alike!

Ingredients for Creamy Ham and Peas Pasta
Butter, unsalted. To saute the veggies.
Onions, sweet or white. I like sweet onions best for this recipe because they have a milder flavor that goes best with the delicateness of the cream sauce but white will also do if that’s what you have on hand!
Garlic, fresh, for best flavor.
Chicken or vegetable stock, for cooking the pasta. This provides extra flavor.
Salt and pepper, to taste.
Pasta, dried. You can use any pasta for this recipe. I used radiatore pasta this time but I use whatever I have on hand. You can also make this recipe gluten-free by using gluten-free pasta.
Peas, frozen. I like using frozen peas because I think they taste better than canned peas but they’re much more convenient than fresh peas hehe!
Ham, cubed. This is a great recipe to use up any ham you have in the refrigerator!
Heavy cream, for the sauce.
Parmesan cheese, for extra flavor and some cheesiness, you will add this to the sauce but you can also sprinkle some on top right before serving.

HAPPY COOKING LOVES!! I hope you'll love this one pot ham and pea pasta as much as I do!

Creamy Ham and Peas Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp (30 g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 medium sweet onion (minced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 and 1/4 cups (290 ml) chicken or vegetable stock
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 8 oz (225 g) dried pasta
- 2 cups (320 g) frozen peas
- 2 cups (270 g) diced ham
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) heavy cream
- 1/4 cup (30 g) freshly-grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Saute the veggies. Add the butter to a medium skillet over medium heat. Allow the butter to melt and sizzle, then add in the onion and sautee for 3-4 minutes or until fragrant and soft. Add in the garlic and sautee for another 1-2 minutes.
- Make the pasta. Immediately pour in the chicken stock and bring to a boil, season with salt and pepper to taste then add the pasta, stir, cover and cook covered for 8-10 minutes stirring twice while the pasta cooks. After 8-10 minutes the pasta should be soft but not overcooked and there should still be some liquid left. Add in the peas, ham, cream, and Parmesan, and mix until the sauce is combined and smooth. If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add more heavy cream. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.
