This Blackberry Juice is deliciously sweet and tart, with a smooth texture and a rich blackberry flavor from fresh berries!

This recipe includes 2 methods: raw for a quick refreshing juice and cooked for a deeper cozier flavor!

    Blackberry Juice

Blackberry Juice is one of our favorite juices because it goes with anything from breakfast to dinner and it’s also delicious as a standalone refreshing drink on a hot day!

It’s called “Jugo De Mora” and it’s super popular in Latin America (especially Ecuador and Colombia and – oh, the lore around it hehe!), it can be made raw or cooked for a deeper flavor!

    This Blackberry Juice is:

    • Fresh made with whole blackberries!
    • Sweet and tart.
    • Quick and easy to make!
    • Perfect for meals or as a standalone refreshing drink!
    • Healthy!
    • Delicious raw or cooked (both included in this recipe)!

    blackberry juice ingredients

    Ingredients

Blackberries. Use fresh whole blackberries for this juice, you can wash them with water and baking soda to clean them before making your juice, if you’d like!

Sugar. You can add as much as you want or even use your own favorite sweetener! We like plain white sugar!

    Water, for the juice!

    How to make Blackberry Juice

Raw Method: Add the blueberries to a blender, blend until smooth then strain to remove any seeds. Add the water and sugar, mix until the sugar has dissolved and enjoy. This method is best if you want a quick refreshing drink.

Cooked Method: Add the blueberries and 1/2 cup of the water to a saucepan over medium heat and cook until the berries turn red and the water turns a deep purple color.

Blend the water and berries until smooth, strain, add sugar and the remaining water, mix until the sugar has dissolved and let cool down to room temperature before enjoying!

    Variations

Vanilla: Add 1/4 teaspoon or up to 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste to the berries when blending for a sweeter flavor. Unless you add lots, you won’t taste the vanilla paste but it’ll add a nice touch to your juice, it’s how my local kiosk makes it hehe!

Slushie: Blend the cold juice with ice until you get a slushie consistency!

Lime: If you want it tarter, add 1 tablespoon of lime juice (or more, to taste).

Mocktail: Serve with soda water and lime over lots of ice.

    Storing Instructions

Store covered or with a lid in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
