Sauce Recipe for Fish Tacos
We love making this sauce for our favorite Fried Fish Tacos because it makes them even more delicious but what makes this sauce even better is the fact that we use any leftovers to make our Creamy Chipotle Chicken the next day!
No waste and two restaurant-worthy meals in a row! 🙂
This sauce for fish tacos is:
- Smooth and creamy.
- Quick and easy: 3 ingredients, 5 minutes!
- Packed with flavor.
- Smoky, tangy, spicy.
- Perfect for fish tacos, grilled fish, meats and more!
- No leftovers: make our favorite Creamy Chipotle Chicken next, if you have any!

Ingredients for fish taco sauce
Sour cream or a blend of mayonnaise and sour cream, if you prefer. We like using sour cream because it adds tanginess and keeps the sauce lighter flavor-wise while giving it a pourable texture, mayonnaise adds richness and thickness but makes the tanginess milder which is what makes it delicious with fried fish!
Chipotles in adobo or canned “salsa de chipotles”, we use the “La Costeña” brand (not sponsored) and both work! We prefer using salsa because it’s already blended and we use the leftovers for our Creamy Chipotle Chicken the next day hehe!
Lime juice or lemon juice, freshly squeezed.
Salt, for flavor.
What to serve with other than tacos
- Grilled meats
- Chicken Quesadillas
- Rotisserie chicken
- Rice bowls
- Salads
- Fried Yuca
- Sandwiches or wraps
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Use as a marinade for chicken
- Empanadas
- Corn on the cob
- Roasted veggies (cauliflower!)
- Nachos

- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Instructions
