This Cilantro Lime Slaw is deliciously fresh, crisp, and zesty! Ready in 5 minutes, this easy coleslaw is our go-to for Baja Fish Tacos and Salmon Fish Tacos but it’s also perfect for grilled meats, rice and beans, pulled pork and more!

Cilantro Lime Slaw for Fish Tacos

This is our favorite refreshing slaw for summer: bright, fun, crisp, zesty, without needing a heavier dressing for added deliciousness!

We love it on Baja Fish Tacos and sometimes Salmon Fish Tacos because it adds lots of freshness and color and we always use any leftovers for our favorite Taco Bowl the next day!

    This Cilantro Lime Slaw is:

    • Crisp and crunchy for hours!
    • Ready in 5 minutes.
    • Refreshing and zesty – no mayo!
    • Healthy and delicious!
    • BBQ and picnic-friendly.
    • Fun and colorful!

    Ingredients for Cilantro Lime Slaw

Cabbage, we like doing a mix of purple and green cabbage but you can also do just one!

Carrot, every good slaw has some shredded carrot!

Limes, we buy a big net of limes for this slaw and use any leftovers for Limeade! I highly recommend you use freshly-squeezed lime juice for this slaw because it has very little ingredients so you want them to be high quality so the flavors really hit the spot!

Cilantro, fresh, get a big bunch and if you have leftover cilantro try our Avocado Hot Sauce or our Colombian Green Sauce!

    Salt, for seasoning.

What to eat with cilantro lime slaw

    • Fish Tacos!
    • Taco bowls, burrito bowls, rice bowls!
    • Carne Asada tacos.
    • Pulled pork sandwiches.
    • Grilled meats!
    • Pulled pork or carnitas.
    • Shrimp.
    • Steak.
    • Rotisserie chicken.
    • Burgers or wraps.
    • Hot dogs.
    • Rice and beans!
    • Add to avocado toasts.

    Variations

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups (140 g) green cabbage (finely shredded, or just 16 oz coleslaw mix with green cabbage, purple cabbage, and carrot)
    • 2 cups (140 g) purple cabbage (finely shredded)
    • 1 cup (70 g) carrot (grated or cut into thin strips)
    • 1 cup (10 g) fresh cilantro (minced)
    • 2 medium limes (juiced)
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    Instructions

    • Add the cabbage, carrot and cilantro to a big bowl, mix, then add the lime juice and salt and toss. Serve or cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 days. This slaw gets even more flavorful after chilling for a few hours but the purple color of the cabbage will make all the veggies pink!
