    Homemade French Hot Chocolate

Hey loves!!! Today I made you a giant cup of French Hot Chocolate: rich, creamy & decadent, just like the one they make in Paris!

Have you ever been there, btw? I have & I *LOVE* their hot chocolate! It’s kinda like drinking melted chocolate & in a way, that’s exactly what French hot chocolate is lol!

    That’s why it’s so thick & delicious!

What is the difference between American hot chocolate and French?

French hot chocolate blends actual chocolate with heavy cream, milk & sugar resulting in a rich & creamy hot chocolate that tastes exactly like melted chocolate!

American hot chocolate, on the other hand, blends unsweetened cocoa powder with milk & sugar resulting in a thinner drink!

    How to Make It

    • Add the milk, cream & sugar to a small saucepan over low heat. Heat until hot but do not allow the mixture to boil or the milk will burn!
    • Add in the chocolate and stir continuously until smooth, bring to a gentle simmer, allow to simmer for just a minute, then turn off the heat!
    • Serve immediately & top with whipped cream! Don’t forget your cookies 🙂

    How to Thicken Hot Chocolate

Gently simmer your hot chocolate while stirring continuously to keep it from burning! I like to let mine simmer for just a minute but you can try 2 minutes if you’re looking for an even thicker texture!

If your hot chocolate gets too thick, you can add in 1 tbsp milk (room temperature, not straight out of the refrigerator) & stir over low heat until combined! Work quickly when stirring the milk into the chocolate 🙂
